December Eagle Board of Review – 2026

This is the day for Eagle Board of Review (EBOR). Scouts needing their EBOR will have an email sent to them by the District Advancement Chair to let them know which EBOR to attend.

Session 1: 2:00 -3:15 pm
Session 2: 3:15 -4:45 pm

Make sure to bring:

Your Original Eagle Scout Rank Application (Received a copy of Approved Eagle application from AAC)
Original and two copies of Eagle Project booklet (all three parts and project approval letter from district) with all signature pages signed
Letters of Recommendation in sealed envelopes via USPS
Scout handbook and complete advancement report
Eagle Scout Statement of Ambitions and Life Goals
Full Scout uniform including merit badge sash
Two members of the troop committee to serve on the Board of Review. Please note that Scoutmaster, Life to Eagle Advisor or the Scout’s parents or other relatives are not permitted to serve on the Board. The Troop (Committee Chair or Scoutmaster or Life to Eagle Advisor) should recruit members to serve on the review committee. The Scout or his family should not be involved in selecting members for the review committee
A Scoutmaster or other scout leader who can introduce you to the Board
A camera, your family, Scout smiles and Scout Spirit! You’ve worked hard for this moment!

District Committee – Dinner Meeting

Each month, the Hightower Trail District Committee meets to plan for future activities and needs of the District. Normally, this meeting is held during the hour prior to the Roundtable. On month’s with no Roundtable, we have a less formal gathering at a local restaurant. All interested adult leaders in Hightower Trail are welcome to attend. Generally, we do not wear our field uniforms to this gathering, as the focus is on fellowship. Please RSVP to Scott Madden at scoutermadden@gmail.com or 404-281-9411 so we can get an appropriate sized table.

2026 April Roundtable – Cooking Competition!

Get ready for an exciting and delicious evening at our April 2026 Roundtable! Join us on April 23rd at 7:00 PM at the Chamblee First United Methodist Church Scout Hut for a fun-filled Campout Cooking Competition that celebrates outdoor skills, creativity, and great food.

This is your chance to see who truly has the best camp cooking skills and the ultimate recipe for the great outdoors. We invite every Troop, Pack, and Crew to send their best cook—or cooking team—to compete, share, and showcase what they can do. Whether it’s a tried-and-true classic or a creative new dish, bring your A-game and your appetite!

Beyond the competition, this event is a fantastic opportunity to learn from some of the best outdoor cooks in the district. Participants and attendees alike will gain valuable tips and techniques for meal planning, camp cooking, and efficient cleanup—skills that make every campout more enjoyable and successful.

Come hungry, come ready to learn, and come ready to share. We look forward to seeing the creativity, teamwork, and flavors that make our scouting community so special!

2026 Golden Axe Winner – Troop 550

Troop 550 proudly earned the prestigious Golden Axe Award at this year’s Hightower Trail District Camporee, standing out among competing troops in a challenging test of skill, teamwork, and leadership. The Camporee’s signature competition required scouts to work together to complete a demanding task, putting their outdoor knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and coordination to the test. Demonstrating exceptional preparation and determination, Troop 550 rose above the competition, executing the challenge with precision and unity. Their victory not only secured them the coveted Golden Axe but also highlighted their commitment to the values of scouting and excellence in teamwork.
