Hightower Trail Campout Cooking Competition

Everyone in Hightower Trail is welcome to attend, hang out, and taste test after the Judges do their work. There will be Awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place, plus some special bling for the Head Cook in 1st Place!

To enter, click on the Registration Form button and fill it out with your Name, Unit , and Method by Wednesday 4/22/2026 at 1PM.

We will be cooking outside at the Chamblee First United Methodist Church Scout Hut. Bring a camp chair so we can all sit and chit chat about our favorite techniques or mishaps, and hang out with our Scouty Friends!

Requirements:

Category – Main Dish

Method – Dutch Oven or Camp Stove

Bring your own:

  • Cookware / Utensils
  • Camp Stove / Dutch Oven
  • Most of the prep needs to be done ahead of time
    • Come early enough to setup equipment before 7:05 start time.
  • Propane / Charcoal
    *If you would like to participate but need to borrow something, PLEASE just let us know.

Provided:

  • Charcoal Chimneys
  • Lighter Fluid
  • Long Tongs
  • Fire Gloves
  • Paper plates, napkins, plastic forks / spoons.

Rules:

  1. Cooking may start at any point after 7:05 pm. We will open the meeting and cooking can start.
  2. Judging Begins – 8:00 pm.
  3. A Unit can contribute multiple entries, but must have distinct head cooks – will anyone sweep the podium?
  4. Teams are encouraged, so bring an assistant cook to lend a hand!
  5. Everyone will adhere to the Firem’n Chit requirements.
  6. Scores will be given from 1 – 5 points on the following criteria:
    Taste (50%)
    Doneness / Temperature (25%)
    Appearance (25%)

Engaging schools was highlighted as a priority, with classroom visits seen as particularly effective in generating excitement and parental involvement. Community events were also recognized as valuable opportunities to connect with families. Retention efforts centered on maintaining balanced age groups within units and using summer activities to keep scouts engaged. The group also reviewed available resources for back-to-school recruitment, such as flyers and handbooks, and emphasized the importance of collaboration and early planning to ensure successful and coordinated efforts across districts and units.

Spring Scout Day at Truist Park

All scouts are invited to the annual spring Scout Day at Truist Park. Scout Day is a celebration of area Cub and Boy Scouts. Families & friends are invited to the ballpark as well so everyone can enjoy watching the Braves take on the Padres! There will be an on-field parade with the Scouts prior to the game.

Patches can be picked up from the Guest Services booth across from Section 111.

A portion of the tickets will go to support the Scouts

Tickets must be purchased by May 10th, 2025 by 11:59pm

Parade Instructions: Line up by 2:30pm at the ramp across from Section 135.

Tickets are subject to availability and tickets purchased for the purpose of being resold are subject to cancellation and refund by the Atlanta Braves.

]]> All classes will be 4 hours in length. Classes will usually be offered either from 8 AM – 12 PM or 1:00 PM – 5:00PM. If you are staying all day, please bring a lunch or purchase a Chick-Fil-A lunch for $13 from the class section in your registration. The lunch option will close April 20th.

All classes will be held in the Atrium Building, but we will be meeting for check-in in the Acedemic Building Auditorium
