Hightower Trail Campout Cooking Competition
Everyone in Hightower Trail is welcome to attend, hang out, and taste test after the Judges do their work. There will be Awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place, plus some special bling for the Head Cook in 1st Place!
To enter, click on the Registration Form button and fill it out with your Name, Unit , and Method by Wednesday 4/22/2026 at 1PM.
We will be cooking outside at the Chamblee First United Methodist Church Scout Hut. Bring a camp chair so we can all sit and chit chat about our favorite techniques or mishaps, and hang out with our Scouty Friends!
Requirements:
Category – Main Dish
Method – Dutch Oven or Camp Stove
Bring your own:
- Cookware / Utensils
- Camp Stove / Dutch Oven
- Most of the prep needs to be done ahead of time
- Come early enough to setup equipment before 7:05 start time.
- Propane / Charcoal
*If you would like to participate but need to borrow something, PLEASE just let us know.
Provided:
- Charcoal Chimneys
- Lighter Fluid
- Long Tongs
- Fire Gloves
- Paper plates, napkins, plastic forks / spoons.
Rules:
- Cooking may start at any point after 7:05 pm. We will open the meeting and cooking can start.
- Judging Begins – 8:00 pm.
- A Unit can contribute multiple entries, but must have distinct head cooks – will anyone sweep the podium?
- Teams are encouraged, so bring an assistant cook to lend a hand!
- Everyone will adhere to the Firem’n Chit requirements.
- Scores will be given from 1 – 5 points on the following criteria:
Taste (50%)
Doneness / Temperature (25%)
Appearance (25%)
